It was sunshine and scenery all round for Dubdoubt. Sunshine and scenery the music. Sunshine and scenery the cocktail. Sunshine and scenery… the scenery!

From the back deck of Nic’s colourful inner-city cottage, the band played five catchy tunes before splitting into pairs and hitting the kitchen.

The12-8 horns (that’s their combined height) warmed up the day with cocktails and salad. Sticking with the theme, there were peaches, limes and green; Euan explaining that green is the key to any salad. Daz worked his way through the cocktails, and despite running into trouble with fragile glasses and a bit of difficulty lighting the lime rind, the cocktails went down a treat. Several rounds followed. Perfect for a summer’s day…

… And to prove just how summery it was, Nic, a keen handyman, fastened a “calendar” to a post. ??!?

The Ruggles brothers – yes, they’re brothers – got in early to prepare a celiac-friendly dense chocolate mudcake for dessert. Complete with caramelized pears for people to “munch down hardcore.” Meetch’s signature dish; caring for the celiacs.

As the rest of the band volunteered their bowl-licking services, John happily jumped through hoops for Meetch, peaking egg-whites and mixing batter, before it was all poured into the cake tin. Not just any ol’ tin, but a tin given to Meetch by Ghandi.

The floor collected a lot of Hayden’s ingredients, and he pretty much ate the rest before stuffing some capsicums with the remaining bits and pieces.

Nic fought off a fly in the kitchen as he prepared the fastest and easiest pizzas ever. Wait for the oven. Do a little dance.

All that food and sunshiny goodness makes one a little tired. With belly’s full of chocolate cake, we say goodbye to Dubdoubt.
